Following the devastating earthquakes that rocked parts of the Philippines this October, global blockchain platform Binance, through its nonprofit arm Binance Charity, has pledged up to ₱3.5 million in emergency aid to support affected communities in Cebu and Davao Oriental.

A 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck northern Cebu on September 30, followed by a stronger 7.4 magnitude quake offshore Davao Oriental on October 10, triggering fears of aftershocks and widespread structural damage. Several barangays reported cracked roads, damaged homes, and displaced families—many of whom are still in need of urgent assistance.

In partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, Binance Charity will distribute BNB token vouchers equivalent to USD 80 (around ₱4,600) each to verified residents from impacted areas. Recipients must present a Proof of Address (POA) to qualify for the blockchain-based financial assistance, which aims to provide fast, transparent, and secure relief distribution.

Binance is the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume and has launched humanitarian initiatives in over 20 countries. Its charity arm utilizes blockchain technology to facilitate traceable donations and direct aid disbursements without intermediaries.

This marks Binance Charity’s latest effort to combine decentralized technology with real-world impact, demonstrating how crypto tools can be used to strengthen disaster response and deliver aid efficiently to those who need it most.
