The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is set to launch eGovDocs, a new digital document signing system that allows users to execute official documents electronically through the eGovPH app. The initiative is scheduled for formal rollout in March 2026, according to DICT Undersecretary for eGovernment David L. Almirol Jr.

Speaking during the Kapihan sa DICT briefing on January 21, Almirol said the platform will enable citizens to sign documents using an electronic signature without relying on physical paperwork. “For the first time, gamit po ang e-signature niyo sa eGovPH App, pwede ka nang magpirma ng documents ngayon, paperlessly. Walang ballpen, walang papel,” Almirol said.

The introduction of eGovDocs represents another step in the government’s broader digitalization agenda, which aims to streamline public transactions, improve service delivery, and reduce bureaucratic friction. The system integrates with the eGovPH app, the government’s unified digital services platform currently consolidating agency-level services into a single mobile channel.

While DICT has not yet detailed the specific document types supported at launch, officials said the system is designed to replace manual signing workflows for select transactions and expand over time. The move aligns the Philippines with regional peers that have adopted digital signatures as part of modern e-government frameworks.

The DICT’s digital government strategy also includes initiatives in identity management, interoperability infrastructure, and paperless government processes, positioning eGovDocs as a foundational component for future electronic public services.

Further implementation details are expected to be released ahead of the March launch.
