Former Binance CEO, CZ, Launches Education-Focused Project Called Giggle Academy
Changpeng Zhao, the former CEO of Binance, launches a new project called Giggle Academy that focuses on quality education that is free and open to everyone. Giggle Academy is a zero-revenue platform that aims to provide K1-12 education for everyone. Though CZ is the founder of this project, it is clarified that this is a non-cryptocurrency project.
Giggle Academy aims to make basic education accessible, addictive and adaptive, to the kids who don't have access to them today, all around the world, for free. Though it is a non-cryptocurrency related project, the concept paper explains that certain blockchain concepts are integrated into the coursework through gamified learning and NFTs. Giggle Academy aims to approach a gamified learning method in its coursework as the platform looks to make learning addictive, while ensuring it is not “over-gamified”. NFTs will be used as badges as a reward for exceeding expectations when completing modules, similar to an ink stamped “very good” to incentivize good performance.
Revealed in the concept paper, The former Binance CEO will fully fund the project. CZ believes it to be “one of the most impactful ways to spend money.” He leverages his experience in leading the biggest cryptocurrency exchanges through his ability to build teams and software as an expertise, as opposed to other non-profit ventures that he may have embarked on. The project aims to be free to use and zero-revenue generating, thanks to CZ.
In an X post on November 22, 2023, Changpeng Zhao announced his stepping-down from his CEO position of Binance as he pleads guilty in money laundering charges. This ensues after CZ admits responsibility for Binance being a gateway for users to launder money through cryptocurrency. CZ is adamant in starting a new venture as a start-up CEO in the cryptocurrency industry. However, the Giggle Academy looks to be a new philanthropic effort of CZ as he looks to continue building as a zero-revenue platform.
