Here's the latest: Donald Trump was the target of what appears to be an assassination attempt this past Sunday. This comes just two months after he was shot in the ear at a rally in Butler.

Luckily, no shots were fired this time. Thanks to a "hyper-vigilant" Secret Service agent, who spotted a gun muzzle sticking out from some bushes at Trump's golf course in Florida, a potentially dangerous situation was averted.

The suspect, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, faced a judge today and has been charged with federal gun crimes. There’s a chance he could be hit with even more charges down the line.

Interestingly, the FBI is looking into Routh’s social media activity. It turns out he has a strong focus on the war in Ukraine, and he’s also got a criminal record that goes back to the 1990s.

In his first comments since this shocking incident, Trump shared the happenings of the incident during a live event on X on Monday evening. He praised the Secret Service for their quick actions but pointed fingers at "political foes" for the "rhetoric" that led up to the shooting.

With this being the second unsettling incident in just a few weeks, there are growing bipartisan calls to enhance security measures for presidential candidates. And let’s not forget, there are still 49 days until the presidential election.

World Liberty Financial: A Trump Initiative in Cryptocurrency

The Trump administration is set to launch a new decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol called "World Liberty Financial," generating buzz among crypto enthusiasts and investors. Announced on September 16, this platform aims to offer decentralized borrowing and lending services using Aave and Ethereum, along with dollar-pegged stablecoins to bolster U.S. dollar dominance in global trade.

However, concerns have emerged regarding the project's legitimacy, particularly due to an initial plan for a 70% insider token allocation, which raised questions about potential profit motives. In response, Trump’s team has adjusted this allocation to 20%, while 63% of the tokens will be available for public sale.

Leading the "World Liberty Financial" initiative are Trump’s sons, Eric and Donald Jr., along with 18-year-old Barron Trump, who has been named "Chief DeFi Visionary." However, behind the scenes, Chase Herro, known for his controversial history, is reportedly the project's main architect.

The project's whitepaper indicates that early versions of its code were copied from Dough Finance, which suffered a $1.8 million loss in a flash attack in July. Additionally, technical development appears to be outsourced to third parties, increasing the risk of hacks, similar to those warned about by the FBI involving North Korea.

With questionable technical foundations, the rushed launch of World Liberty Financial seems designed to exploit the current crypto hype. The announcement comes just two months before a national election, suggesting a political motive behind the timing. Notably, the fact that a polarizing figure like Trump is publicly supporting DeFi — regardless of his understanding of the technology — cannot be ignored.
