MANILA, Philippines — January 2026. The Blockchain Council of the Philippines (BCP) has appointed Luis Buenaventura as its new President, according to information released by the organization. Donald Lim will continue to serve as Chairman.

Buenaventura sits on the Council’s Board as the representative of GCash (Mynt—Globe Fintech Innovations), where he heads the firm’s cryptocurrency initiatives. GCash has been a member of the Council since 2022.

Buenaventura is known for his work in the Philippine crypto and web3 sector as an author, entrepreneur and digital artist. He previously served as Country Manager of Yield Guild Games (YGG) Philippines and co-founded BloomX, a licensed virtual asset service provider. His digital artworks have been sold at Christie’s and Sotheby’s, according to publicly available auction records.

In a statement, Buenaventura said the Council’s role in 2026 will involve “industry partnerships and nation-building,” and expressed interest in broader collaboration with the local blockchain community.

The Blockchain Council of the Philippines convenes representatives from fintech, enterprise, government, academia and industry groups to support responsible blockchain adoption and ecosystem coordination.

The leadership transition comes amid ongoing blockchain activity in the Philippines across payments, enterprise supply chain pilots, creative sectors and public-sector digital modernization initiatives.

No additional details on policy priorities or program milestones for 2026 were disclosed as of publication.
